Guide Me / How to use it

Step 1: Patch Test First — Non-Negotiable

I don't care how many five-star reviews you've read. I don't care if your best friend swears by it. Patch test first. This is Nurse 101 and it applies to every new skincare product you introduce -tallow included.

Here's exactly how:

Step 1: Choose your test spot
Inner forearm or behind the ear are ideal - clean, thin-skinned, easy to monitor.

Step 2: Apply a pea-sized amount
To that spot only. Do not apply any other new products to that area.

Step 3: Leave it alone for 24 to 72 hours
Check for: redness, itching, burning, bumps, or rash.

If you react:
Stop. Give your skin a break. It doesn't necessarily mean tallow is wrong for you forever - it may mean timing, formula, or application amount needs adjusting. Reach out to us directly and we'll help you troubleshoot.

If all is calm:
You're clear to proceed. Welcome to the club. 🌿

Step 2: Start With Less Than You Think You Need

This is the number one mistake new tallow users make, and I say that with complete compassion because I've watched it happen over and over. Tallow is concentrated. It is not a drugstore lotion where you pump out a handful and slather it on. Think of it more like a serum - a little goes a long way.

Starting amounts:
Face: a grain-of-rice to pea-sized amount -(warm between your fingertips).
Around eyes: the tip of your pinky finger.
Body (per area): a fingertip amount.
Hands: a small pea-sized amount, less in summer.

If your skin feels greasy after application, you simply used too much. Less is always more with tallow.

Step 3: Apply to Slightly Damp Skin — This Is the Game Changer

Here's the clinical reasoning: moisturizers work best when they have something to seal in. Applying tallow to completely dry skin means it's working harder to compensate for missing hydration. Applying it to slightly damp skin, right after cleansing, or after a quick mist with a facial spray - gives it moisture to lock in and amplifies the results significantly. [6] This single step change makes more difference than almost anything else I recommend. Try it for one week and tell me I'm wrong.

The Routine:
-Cleanse gently.
-Pat skin-not completely dry, just not dripping.
-Apply tallow using press-and-hold technique (see below).
-Give it 60 seconds before applying anything on top.

Step 4: Press and Hold

Especially helpful when using tallow on your face or under makeup.

This is the technique I teach customers who want the nourishment of tallow without feeling greasy or heavy.

1. Start Small

Use only a tiny amount. With tallow, more is not better.

2. Warm It Up

Rub the product lightly between your fingertips for a few seconds. Your body heat will soften it and make it easier to apply.

3. Press, Do Not Rub

Gently press your fingertips into the skin and hold for 3 to 5 seconds in each area.

Work across your face in sections:

Cheeks
Forehead
Chin
Neck

4. Finish With a Light Press

Use your fingertips to gently press upward across the entire face.

Pressing helps the product settle into the skin instead of being rubbed around on the surface. The warmth from your hands helps soften and distribute it evenly.

5. Give It a Minute

Wait about 60 seconds before applying SPF, makeup, or the next step in your routine.

When you use the right amount, tallow can leave the skin feeling soft, smooth, and comfortable without heaviness. Many of our customers also find that it creates a beautiful base for makeup.

Step 5: Give It Two Full Weeks Before You Judge

Skin that has been barrier-stressed, over-treated, or reactive for years does not reset overnight. When you introduce something new, even something simple and biocompatible, there can be an adjustment period as your skin recalibrates. This is not a flaw in the product. This is your skin doing its job.

What to watch for in weeks one and two:

-Decreased tightness and dryness -usually first.
-Reduced reactivity and redness - typically by end of week one.
-Improved texture and comfort -week two territory.
-Makeup wearing better and longer -often surprises people.

When to stop: persistent burning, stinging, or worsening irritation that doesn't settle.

And when in doubt -reach out to us directly. We actually answer.
